Walled

I have been to Morocco twice now, both times on a creative retreat. Every time I go, I am both inspired and amazed by the use of color and designs. It is a very creative culture. It can be somewhat a sensory overload, so sometimes the simplicity of something you see resonates and brings a calm to the senses. That is why I think this city wall surrounding the square in Essaouira (Morocco) stuck with me. I love the stark contrast of the pink city wall against the stark blue sky.

The line of the top of the wall inspired the design of this quilt. As I exported the design to my laptop, there was a color fill issue in the squares. I liked this lack of fill and kept it part of the design.
